Jim Farnes
In 1987, he moved to Florida to work for CPT of South Florida, a company specializing in proprietary Word Processing machines for attorneys and Desktop Publishing computers for Print Shops. Word Processing was quickly being replaced with PC XT computers. Print shops just ate up the new Macintosh SE computers. Jim took over the Desktop Publishing division between 1988 and 1990.
January 1, 1991 Jim opened Farnes Computer Systems (FCS), a division of Successful Money Strategies. 96% of the business was Macintosh. There were very few Apple onsite repair / installers back then. Apple certified technician’s only knew hardware. FCS took the time to learn graphic application compatibility with the hardware on both Mac and PC platforms. Print Shops and Advertising firms dropped their current PC IT companies and hired FCS as a one stop shop.
Jim took a chance and hired his 1st employee in 1995. Today, FCS is one of the few companies that can merge both Apple and PC server platforms.
